Estate or Letting Agencies in London. How much usually they ask us to pay?

Any advice for using their services?

Hi all
Have a new question here!Anyone out there from around Pittsfield,or Berkshire County,MA that can recommend any realtor,or agency to help us?We are currently living in the UK,but want to buy a place to move back to…And with the current “credit crunch”,will that be easy enough,or even more difficult?Would appreciate any help on the matter, and any suggestions on who might be good to go with!
Thanks much!

Have refurbised my property in UK and wish to get it revalued to release money. Do I get estate agents to value the property? A surveyor? How many valuations should I submit? The highest?

I’m 17 years old, and live in the UK. I have searched the internet and found that at 17 you CAN move out without parents consent. So, me and my fiancee have looked around for flats to rent. But for some reason, every single estate agent that we see won’t take us on! They say that they can’t help unless we’re 18. What can we do? The law is you can move out at 17, but if estate agents won’t let us rent one of their flats, then how are we supposed to move out? It’s so stupid! UK seriously needs to sort out they’re country!! Help please! x

Hello, this is a question for fellow UK lawyers. Are estate agents obliged to let private landlords know when they are breaking the law? say in the case of discrimination law

We recently agreed on a price with buyers for our UK house. Their property surveyor then arrived a day earlier than agreed, meaning that our estate agent was not on hand as originally agreed. He decided to downvalue our house primarily based on a recent sale on the other side of the road. He was not local, and admitted to having difficulties in valuing our house, but felt that our house was only worth £20k more than this other house. (The price originally agreed was £40k more). We appealed this decision, based on the fact that our house had previously been valued at £50 to £60k more than this other one. (The same firm valued both houses). We have other info supporting our case, too. However, I am told that I am unable to challenge this decision, because we are not the surveyor’s client. Only the client (our buyer) can do this. (But why would he?). The client has reduced his offer accordingly, and we have had to capitulate or risk losing our new house. This incompetency has cost us £20k

I live in the UK and i know in the US you need a brokers license before you can open one. Just wondering what are the requirements in the UK. Is it enough just to be an estate agent to open one on your own?

Basically what my problem is, is i had a contract with an estate agent a few months a go and the contract ended but someone came up us the other day and wanted to buy the house. they had looked at it with the estate agent original but would like to buy it privately. is it illegal to sell it to them considering the fact that the estate agent found the buyer.

by the way we live in the UK if that makes a difference.
sorry i forgot to add we do not have the contract my sister in law has it and there is no possible way of getting it from her as she well lets just say she isnt the nicest sister in law ever…
